Below Deck Mediterranean season 9 is welcoming a new Stew aboard Mustique, and the additional crew member proves that Captain Sandy Yawn is in damage control mode aboard the superyacht. While Captain Sandy has been working hard to navigate Mustique and create a positive environment for the charter guests, her crew has struggled in their performances. Dealing with personal and professional issues throughout the charter season, Captain Sandy has had to step in to help finesse multiple issues with her crew. From problems with the interior and exterior teams to technical issues aboard Mustique, Captain Sandy’s had a rough time.

While Captain Sandy has been working from the bridge to navigate Mustique through the difficult waters of the Aegean, there have been problems all over the superyacht. Chef Johnathan Shillingford had some of the earliest issues aboard Mustique, struggling to prepare meals that were up to par and had the charter guests’ preferences in mind. Elsewhere on the superyacht, Chief Stew Aesha Scott has been struggling to keep her stews, Ellie Dubaich and Bri Muller, in check. Finally, Below Deck Mediterranean season 9’s Bosun, Iain MacLean, has struggled to manage his team and make safe choices, leading Captain Sandy to need help.

Carrie O'Neill Is Joining The Interior Team

She’s Stepping In To Help Out

Although there has been a minor break in the tension between Bri and Ellie, who have been feuding over Deckhand Joe Bradley, Captain Sandy chose to bring in another stew to try and change up the team. Carrie O’Neill, who has a decade’s worth of yachting experience, is joining Below Deck Med in order to fill out the interior team, rounding things out. While the team has been down a stew due to the lack of living space, Captain Sandy chose to bring someone else in to help out the team and, hopefully, diffuse the situation between Bri and Ellie.

Captain Sandy Can't See Another Department Fail

She’s Struggling With The Exterior

With Carrie joining the interior team, Captain Sandy hopes the change will reinvigorate things and ensure she won’t see another department fail during this season. Though Captain Sandy has been able to maintain her crew this far in the Below Deck Mediterranean charter season, she’s still struggling with the yachties she has aboard Mustique and their performances. While none of the departments she’s been dealing with have failed necessarily, the exterior team has put guests in danger, while the chef has had performance issues. With Carrie coming into a crumbling team, it’s clear things will change in the team’s dynamics.

Will The New Stew Help The Team?

She Could Alleviate Some Pressure

Although it could backfire on the Captain, Carrie’s arrival should help the interior team operate with far more ease. With the crew having been down a stew throughout the charter season, tensions were higher between Bri and Ellie because of their significantly higher workload. With another set of hands in the mix, Carrie will be able to help ensure that everything that needs to get done happens aboard Mustique. The new Below Deck Mediterranean star will be able to navigate the difficult social dynamics of the crew, along with the ebbs and flows of the superyacht’s overly stressful charter season.
