Yankees’ Cam Schlittler’s run at perfect game ends in seventh - lulu

TAMPA — Cam Schlittler looked unhittable the first time through the lineup, then did it again the second time through.

The Yankees rookie right-hander began his seventh career start by throwing six perfect innings on 66 pitches against the Rays as he took his shot at history

Unfortunately, the Yankees rookie was unable to make history as Chandler Simpson led of the seventh inning with a single to center field.

Schlittler was pounding the zone with strikes from the get go, not entering a three-ball count through the first six innings while only having three two-ball counts.

He had six strikeouts, four on his signature high-powered fastball but two on his curveball that was especially effective on Wednesday.
