The Vanderpump Rules alum’s cover band, Tom Sandoval and the Most Extras, was eliminated from the competition on Wednesday’s first results show of season 20.

America’s Got Talent brought Tom Sandoval and his band, The Most Extras, back for the second time to perform for judges Howie Mandel, Mel B, Sofía Vergara, and Simon Cowell.
The Vanderpump Rules alum and his band made it to the quarterfinals of AGT after performing A-ha’s Take On Me. This round, they performed a cover of The Weeknd‘s Blinding Lights.

Round 2 wasn’t as successful as round 1:
While the judges applauded Sandoval and his band’s energy, Simon Cowell felt the overall performance fell flat, so he hit his ‘X’ buzzer halfway through the song. “It didn’t sound great.”
Simon reiterated, “That did not sound good, I’m afraid.”

Sofia loved the band, the song, and the dancing, but “the sound was not amazing.”

Spice Girls icon Mel B was the most generous to Tom. “You make me smile. You just do. Yeah, you’re a cover band, but you bring a little bit of happiness. The way that you commit is flawless.” …. tell that to Ariana Madix!
Howie revisited Tom’s MO for competing – redemption. “You want to do music. You want to be the most fun cover band, and that’s what we’re looking at.” The former Deal or No Deal host thinks people will want to book Tom and his band for weddings. You’re good people having a good time. That’s what this show is all about.”
True to form, Tom made excuses …
Sondoval said, “Right before I went on, my in-ears kinda went out,” referring to the audio monitors. “So, I was flying in the dark there.”
Of course, Tom insisted he was “not” making excuses for his pitchy performance when Mel B called him out.
Tom conceded, “I had a blast.”
