It took former Real Housewives of New York star Sonja Morgan years to unload her iconic townhouse, which now functions as a sober living facility.
If these walls could talk…
Page Six broke the news of the fate of the RHONY legacy’s house of spirits (not ghosts).
The history of the townhouse:
Sonja’s townhouse has stories, and that’s not just because it’s multi-level.
She listed her gorgeous five-story 63rd Street home in 2019 for $11 million. Sonja resided there with her J.P. Morgan heir husband, John Adams Morgan, until they split in 2006.
After a remodel and multiple price reductions, it sold for $4.5 million in 2024.
New owner, new philosophy:
What was once a party house is now “an outpost of luxe recovery facility.”
Called Release Recovery, patients are treated for substance abuse and mental health issues. Its website highlights its elegant accommodations, which will look familiar to RHONY’s eagle-eyed fans.
“Release Recovery helps individuals and their families recover from substance use and mental health disorders through customized treatment, bespoke transitional living, and other concierge recovery services.”
The hilarity of the situation wasn’t lost on Sonja:
When Sonja learned about her old home’s new life, she couldn’t help but giggle. Sonja said the buyer planned to live there with his wife, so she’s surprised to hear how the story ended.
If you’re missing Sonja On Your Screen, her Sonja In Your City variety show will be at City Winery on Sept. 5, and she’ll appear on Celebrity Name That Tune on Nov. 17.
