According to a source, Katie Ginella’s lie-detector scene was her “last appearance for a while” on Real Housewives of Orange County, as castmates “refus[ed] to film with her.”
Throughout the season, several co-stars have accused Katie of lying. The biggest accusation was that she leaked certain stories to the press. But as castmates questioned her, Gretchen Rossi and Jennifer Pedranti stayed by her side.
However, in the latest episode on August 28, Katie “failed” every question on her lie detector test. Specifically, she “failed” while claiming that Gretchen told her that Tamra Judge drugged her on a past season. But Gretchen, who was asked the same question, passed with flying colors. This seemed to be the end of Katie’s friendship with Gretchen, Jennifer, and the rest of the cast. By the end of the scene, Emily Simpson asked Katie to leave.
After the episode, a source claimed it was Katie’s “last appearance for a while on the show.”
“Bravo felt that all of the women were coming for her and decided to remove her from the mix for a bit,” said the insider, speaking to OK! Magazine. The source said the episode is “incredibly triggering” for anyone who has “ever been ganged up on,” even those who aren’t fans of Katie.
“It was clear all of the women had planned to band together to take Katie down and they ended up refusing to film with her,” the insider added. “As she mentioned in an interview … she did want to film at the cast trip and previously said she was grateful to Bravo for temporarily removing her from the situation, but they still thought it was best for her to sit out the cast trip.”
The source claimed Bravo did this “primarily because the other women were still refusing to sit down with her and let the drama go.”
“Fans of Katie’s can stay tuned, though,” said the insider. “This is not the end of her story on TV.”
New episodes of The Real Housewives of Orange County air on Thursday nights on Bravo.
