Jax Taylor is admitting to being dishonest with his therapists.
While also sharing his thoughts on couples staying together solely for the sake of their kids, the 46-year-old nearly-divorced reality star, who has appeared on Vanderpump Rules and its spinoff, The Valley, looked back on past therapy sessions, revealing that heâs had many therapists and lied about his drug use and addiction to sex.
âYes, [Iâve lied], mostly out of embarrassment. Mostly out of embarrassment,â Jax shared, via Breaking the Rules Pod Clips on Instagram.
According to Jax, heâs gone through so many therapists that heâs not sure how many heâs seen but suspects there have been âfive or six.â
âSometimes I just omit information. I wonât say everything. I sugarcoat things, Iâll kind of glance over it, which is so stupid,â he confessed. âYouâre going to therapy to help yourself. Why would you pay for something and then lie to them? It doesnât make any sense. Why would you do that?â
âIf youâre gonna be honest to anybody, it should be your f*cking therapist, right? Theyâre the ones that canât talk about anything. So youâre going to spend $150 an hour and then lie to him? It doesnât make any sense. If youâre trying to fix yourself, you gotta be honest with these people,â he continued.
Sharing specifics regarding what he had been dishonest about, Jax, who confirmed an addiction to cocaine earlier this year, said he âkind of downplayed how much drugs [he] was doingâ and âdownplayed [his] sex addiction.â
âItâs f*cking embarrassing,â Jax admitted, proceeding to state that it took him some time to open up with most of his therapists.
âI did. It took me some time. And also, too, it has a lot to do with the therapist,â he noted. âLike, sometimes I feel like, âI can open up to this person right away.â And then sometimes Iâm like, âUh, I donât know if I trust this person yet.â I needed a couple more sessions.â

As for Jaxâs thoughts on people staying married for their kids, he shared those feelings on the August 28 episode of In the Mind of Jax Taylor.
âMy friends that are married ⊠âAre you happy?â âEh.â And most of my friends my age [have] all been married for 10 years. [Ten] years is kind of the marker right now ⊠and I ask them all the same thing, they all say the same thing, âEh.ââ
Even after asking his pals why they stay married, they reportedly tell Jax that they are unsure before signaling their children.
âA lot of people say the same thing: âWe got f*cking kids.â Thatâs the main, main response that I get. âWould you ever end it?â âNo, it would kill my kids.â And Iâm curious. Is that normal to stay in your marriage because you donât want to upset the kids, or is that more detrimental because your kids are seeing you not really happy and going through the motions?â Jax wondered.

Jax is in the midst of a divorce from his estranged wife, Brittany Cartwright, 36, who filed documents to end their marriage last August before their relationship was seen unraveling on the second season of The Valley.
