The Minnesota Vikings quarterback, 22, and his fiancée, Katya Kuropas, announced the arrival of their first baby together in a joint Instagram post on Friday, Sept. 12.
"Welcome to the world Rome Micah McCarthy ✨The sweetest, most perfect gift from God!! We are so unbelievably blessed to be your parents💙 8.7lb 21 in.," the caption read.
The post included photos of the newborn resting while wrapped in a swaddle. Another pic showed McCarthy admiring his son while holding him in his arms.
McCarthy commented on the post, "God is GREAT! & so are you my love @katyakuropas." The official Instagram account for the Vikings commented, "💜💜."

McCarthy and Kuropas got engaged in January 2024 and announced their pregnancy via a joint Instagram post in May.
McCarthy was at the Vikings team facility on Thursday, Sept. 11, for meetings and a team walk-through before asking the Vikings head coach, Kevin O’Connell, if he could leave before practice to take Kuropas to the hospital, The Minnesota Star Tribune reported.
He returned to practice on Friday, per the outlet.
Other than his early departure on Thursday, McCarthy participated in all team activities this week and is expected to start during the Vikings game on Sunday, Sept. 14, against the Atlanta Falcons at U.S. Bank Stadium, per ESPN.

O’Connell said while speaking to reporters that McCarthy asked him for permission to accompany his fiancée to the hospital, as well as "pointers" on what to say during labor.
"I did give him some pointers on maybe what to say and, more importantly, what not to say in those moments. Quarterback development, man," said O'Connell.
