Igor Shesterkin And The New York Rangers Ready To Turn Things Around
I think it's pretty clear that the New York Rangers are not happy with how the 2024-25 season turned out, one of the players that faced a ton of criticism was Igor Shesterkin as he went 27-29-5 with a 2.86 goals against average and a .905 save percentage in 61 games played.
Certainly not the worst numbers by the 29-year old netminder. However, fans expected more from him considering the record-breaking eight-year, $92 million contract extension ($11.5M AAV) he signed with the Rangers back on December 7th 2024.
Ever since the beginning of the Rangers 2025 Training Camp, several members of the organization spoke out and stated that this year will be different as they all weren't happy with how things went last season.
"Always learn from it," Trocheck said. "Every year you learn from your mistakes. You try to get better every year. I don't want anybody thinking about last year if there is a lull in the season where we have a little bit of a down streak. You can't start thinking, 'Oh here we go again.' That's the worst thing you can do. It's an 80% mental game. In a sense, you want to burn it. But at the same time, we reflected over the summer about our summer and that's where we were taking our learning opportunity and now it's a new season. We start now. We have to take it day by day."
