Brittany Cartwright revealed she has no plans to move out of the Valley Village home she once shared with her ex, Jax Taylor.
In August 2025, âThe Valleyâ star spoke out on her âWhen Reality Hitsâ podcast more than a year after filing for divorce from Taylor. Cartwright revealed she does not want to move her 4-year-old son, Cruz, out of his familiar surroundings.
âI am staying,â Cartwright said of the house. âShe is mine. One hundred percent, this is my home. Still figuring out a lot of stuff with Jaxâs stuff, but hopefully whenever our divorce is finalized, that will be all taken care of. But I am staying here. I do not want to move Cruz.â
In April, Cartwright confirmed that her son was diagnosed with autism.
Brittany Cartwright Plans to Give Her House a Refresh
Taylor and Cartwright purchased the farmhouse-style home for $1.9 million in 2019, per HGTV Canada. At one time, the garage was converted into a âman caveâ for Taylor. But all traces of the former SUR bartender are now gone as Cartwright makes the place her own.
âI love this house so much,â Cartwright told her podcast listeners. âIâm definitely refreshing the house, though. Iâm going to redo a lot of the rooms. Iâve already redone landscaping. Iâve already like redone little things here or there. But this is just my place, and Cruz is so comfortable here. I have his pool, his swing set, his sensory room. Heâs very happy here, and I am very happy here.â
Cartwright acknowledged that some people may think itâs âweirdâ that she is choosing to stay in the home that she bought with her ex-husband or that it will hold too many memories.
âItâs not like that,â she said. âThere is no, you couldnât even tell that my ex ever lived here, weâll just say that. No photos, no nothing. And Iâm going to do a whole refresher. Iâm going to redo my patio furniture soon, Iâm going to redo my front living room, dining area, make it look completely different. Just really start putting my own spin on things and Iâm really excited about that.â
Brittany Cartwright Said She Shouldnât Have Temporarily Moved Out of the House
When Cartwright and Taylor first split in early 2024, she moved in and out of several Airbnbs with Cruz.
In an April 2025 interview with People magazine,  Cartwright said that Taylor should have been the one to move out from the beginning. âWhen youâre dealing with a child with autism, we shouldnât be the ones moving around. That should have never happened,â she said.
Taylor has since apologized for how he handled his things with Cartwright and their son.
Cartwright ultimately moved back into the house and got rid of the man cave to make way for her large collection of holiday decor. She also swapped out the front door mat for one that says âThe Cartwrightsâ instead of Taylorâs surname.
âThis is my house,â the Bravo star said in April. âIâm proud of myself, that I could do it by myself.â
