Brett Berard’s living arrangement this summer is unique to say the least.
Berard revealed that he’s living in the basement of a house located in Darien, Conn., with the Fiorita family consisting of big New York Rangers fans.
Since Berard planned to train in Connecticut this summer, he was looking for a place to live when he connected with the Fiorita family through his friend Petey Alofsin.
While living in Connecticut, Berard has practically become a member of the Fiorita family.
The 22-year-old forward goes on walks with members of the family and plays in their minidoodle and basketball games in the driveway.
For the Rangers obsessed family, opening up their home for Berard was an easy decision that brought them a lot of joy.
"In the back of my mind, I was like, 'This isn't gonna happen. A Ranger's not going to move into our house.' " Missy Fiorita said.
"We were all on pins and needles, but as soon as he walked in the door, it was like, 'I'm not welcoming this kid into my home for X amount of time. I'm welcoming him to being part of our family," said Missy Fiorita.
For Berard, he both enjoys his living accommodations and is happy he’s saving a little bit of extra money.
More importantly, Berard has been able to form valuable connections and friendships that could last a lifetime.
"I could rent somewhere, but this opportunity came up," Berard said. "I save money on rent… “I live all year by myself, so it’s kind of a second family away from my family,"
