Bears Announcement is Bad News for the Detroit Lions

The Detroit Lions just got served up with some not-so-great news about this weekend's opponent, the Chicago Bears.
The NFL season is in full swing, and the Detroit Lions are ready to redeem themselves from their loss against the Green Bay Packers, which kicked their season off on Sunday, September 7. It’s never fun to lose a game, but doing so against a rival in the NFC North and losing with the numbers they did, 13-27, did not feel good.

So, what better way to redeem themselves than with a win against another division rival, Chicago Bears? The Bears, of course, have a new head coach in Ben Johnson, who was the Lions’ offensive coordinator for years and helped shape the Lions into the team they are today. So, tensions are high, and the stakes are even higher.

The Bears are coming off a loss against the Minnesota Vikings, which saw the Vikings pulled off a very late win on Monday, September 8. So, they’re hungry for a win, too. After Sunday’s game, one of these teams will be 0-2 for the season, and let’s hope it’s not the Lions. But, Detroit has just gotten dealt some news that certainly won’t help them this Sunday at Ford Field.

Chicago Bears Kingpins Are Healthy and Coming Back for Detroit Lions Matchup
It’s always the hope that everyone is healthy for game day, but it’s also a reality that having good players out can help the other team. So, the latest news from the Chicago Bears’ camp should help them in their upcoming game against the Lions.

The team has announced that two starters will be back for the Lions game, and those players are Pro Bowl cornerback Jaylon Johnson and veteran linebacker T.J. Edwards. Johnson was out for training camp and the preseason with a groin injury and did not take the field in the season opener against the Minnesota Vikings. Johnson has been a full participant all week.

Speaking with reporters on Friday, Johnson said, “I’m very happy with him. He comes out, he’s got a swagger to him. Confidence, he’s not afraid to talk a little bit.”

Johnson added, “That’s what I feel immediately is just the presence out there. When you watch the tape yesterday [from practice], he’s very sticky. We like to eliminate the space in our coverages, and so I think he’s going to be a really good fit for us this week.”

When asked about Jaylon’s return, Bears defensive tackle Grady Jarrett said, “It goes without saying. The guy is one of the top players at the position. Obviously, him on the field is going to make a difference for us and we’re excited to hopefully get him back Sunday.”

Jarrett added, “Nobody is more ready than him to go do his thing. Super happy for him and happy for this whole team.”

Detroit Lions’ Injury Update
The Lions’ injury report has some troubling news, too. On Friday, September 12, Campbell gave an update on Lions left tackle, Taylor Decker, who has been dealing with a shoulder injury. Campbell said while he wants to play, but he doesn’t know if that’s going to happen.

“Well, he’s got a little bit of something here, and so we’re just trying to buy him some time here to where he feels better,” Campbell said according to Pro Football Talk.

Let’s hope the Detroit Lions can get fully healthy and ready to take on this season. If they want to get to the final game for the first time in franchise history, now is their chance.
